The report highlights that, in 2024, shipments from domestic steel mills measured 87 million net tons (NT), down three percent from the previous year. U.S. raw steel production was 88 million net tons in 2024, a two percent decrease from 2023. The report also shows that total steel imports into the United States increased by three percent in 2024 compared to the previous year, while finished steel imports increased by four percent over the same period and captured a 22 percent share of apparent steel consumption. The report also notes that the construction and automotive industries continued as the leading end-use markets for shipments of U.S. steel products.听
